1. I looked for a way to control my heart, so that it had no will of its own in the matter.  When you are ready to do God's will, no matter what it is, then you have conquered 90% of the obstacles.

2. Having done this, I didn't leave the results to my feelings or impressions alone.  If I do this, I will leave myself open to be deceived.

3. I seek the will of the Holy Spirit of God, through the Word of God.  The Spirit and the Word must be in agreement.  If I look to the guidance of the Holy Spirit without the Word of God, I can also open myself up to deception.  If the Spirit is my Guide, He will do guide me according to the Holy Scriptures and never contrary to them.

4. After all of this, I then take note of the circumstances that God is controlling in my life.  Many times these circumstance, in connection with the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, can indicate clearly the will of God.

5. I ask God in prayer to reveal to me His will.

6. This way, through prayer, the study of the Word of God, and meditation, I arrive at a sensible decision, as best as possible, according to my ability and knowledge.  If my mind then feels at peace and continues to be peaceful, after two or three petitions, I press forward.  I have found that this method is always efficient in matters small and great.
